Countdown to Christmas and New Year's Celebrations
So many people get totally stressed this time of year. Here are a few tips to help bust up the stress before it ruins your holiday.
Simplify whatever you are doing. Less is often more.
It is really okay if your house is not immaculate. People should be coming to see you, not your housekeeping. If someone is critical, smile and hand them a dust cloth or mop!
Stay on task and complete one thing at a time. Don’t try to throw all the balls up in the air and keep them all there at the same time.
Refrain from doing anything to excess. This includes food, alcohol, parties, gifts, using charge cards, or taking on extra chores.
Stop periodically throughout the day to stretch and take several deep belly breaths.
Take a few minutes to laugh each day. Better yet, make someone else laugh with you. Lighten your mood with music and funny stories.
Smile – often!
If you are feeling fatigued – take 20 minutes to meditate or take a nap to rejuvenate.
Ask a friend to lunch. Take the time to relax with a friend. He or she needs to ‘chill’ as much as you do. Give the gift of your presence, not presents.
Schedule a Reiki, massage, acupressure or reflexology session for yourself before the holiday. Allow the energy worker you choose to help you balance your energy system before heading into the thick of celebrations. The calm and peace the session brings will be well worth the effort to squeeze it into your schedule.
This is a time for love, peace and friendship. Take the time you need to be able to enjoy it. Give yourself permission to be less than perfect so that you can be less stressed. Give yourself the gift of listening to your own energetic needs this holiday season.
Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.
